Regular School Days: 8:10am to 2:30pm
Pre-K: 8:10am to 2:15pm
Kindergarten: 8:10am to 2:20pm

  • Staff will supervise all students in the cafeteria and auditorium until 8:10am and then escort the students by grade to their classroom.
  • Students in Grades 2-5 who are not participating in early morning drop off/breakfast should enter the building at 8:10am through the Main Entrance or Exit 4 and go directly to their classrooms.
  • Students in Kindergarten and first grade should enter from Exit 1. Older siblings of students in Kindergarten and first grade may also enter here.
  • Pre-K students will enter from Kids Place at Exit 10 (Kids Place).
  • Students who arrive late should come through the Main Entrance. Please note that this is not a best practice. We do not encourage late arrivals.

  • At dismissal, students will exit the building with his/her class at the designated door.
  • Parents who are interested in "sibling pick up" accommodations should contact their child's classroom teacher.
  • For the safety of the children, parents are discouraged from picking up their child after the 2:10 Bus Bell and will be asked to meet their child at their designated dismissal door/time. Parents may not wait in the lobby before their child's designated dismissal time as it imposes a safety hazard.
  • Please arrange to have your child picked up promptly at dismissal. Young children become easily upset when they are not met on time.
  • Children can only be released to adults who are named on their Emergency Contact Card.
  • Children who are not picked up on time will wait in the auditorium and must be signed out at the Safety Agent's desk. The principal will contact parents who are frequently late.
  • Please email your child's teacher with any change in your child's pick up schedule.
  • If you made special arrangements for someone not on the list to pick up your child (e.g., for a play date), you must send in a note in advance to your child's teacher.
  • Students in grades 4-5 may be dismissed on their own with a note from a parent in advance.
  • Messages sent throughout the day on ClassDojo are not always seen by teachers. Please be diligent about informing the teacher or the office early.
  • If you are driving your child to school in the morning, please observe the rules!
  • Help keep the flow of traffic moving.
  • DO NOT PARK in front of the school building at the Main Entrance or at the 12th Avenue Entrance.
  • DO NOT DOUBLE PARK your car at the Main Entrance or at the 12th Avenue Entrance. Serious accidents can occur when children are forced to walk between double parked cars in order to enter/exit the building.
  • DO NOT PARK at the designated bus stops (both at the Main Entrance and 12th Avenue Entrance) when dropping off or picking up your child.
  • IT IS NOT SAFE OR LEGAL! It is illegal to leave your car idling for more than one minute in a school zone. Violators will be ticketed by the police at their own expense.
Children in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade who live at least a half mile from school are eligible for yellow bus transportation. As per the Department of Education, children in Grades 3 through 5 may be eligible for a free MetroCard if they live more than one mile away from the school. No exceptions will be made. If your child rides the school bus daily, expect your child to be placed on the bus each day.

If your child normally takes the bus and you need to pick up your child in person or make alternate arrangements, contact the classroom teacher IN WRITING at the beginning of the school day and sign the child out in the Main Office. Under no circumstances may children who are supposed to walk home from school travel on school buses.

As is the case each September, there will certainly be delays and problems the first few weeks after school begins. Please be patient and be at the bus stop a few minutes early for the first few weeks.

Unfortunately, the school has no control over late buses. It is the parent's responsibility to know the name and phone number of the bus company their children take to school, so that the parent can contact the bus company directly if the bus is late. Your child will not be marked late if the bus is delayed.

If your child is entering 3rd Grade, he/she is no longer eligible for the local school bus service.

As always, our priorities are to ensure the health and safety of our children! It is IMPORTANT that parents of children who use the school bus review the following guidelines:
  1. Please stay in your seat at ALL times.
  2. Use low voices (no shouting or loud talking).
  3. Be considerate of others.
  4. Listen to the bus driver. He/she is there to help you and to provide safe travel.
We ask for your cooperation in reinforcing proper conduct on the bus and while waiting in school for the bus. Failure to adhere to our guidelines may result in the suspension of bus privileges.
